George Harry Schroder, Sr.

George Harry Schroder, Sr., 92, of Savannah, GA died August 19, 2013 at Hospice House in Savannah, GA. He was born on September 20, 1920 in Savannah, GA the son of the late Bertram and Nell Brisbois. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the USS Tripoli in the Pacific as Gunnersmate. He was a Chemist for Continental Can Company for over 33 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with his late wife Lillian, and for a time enjoyed square dancing. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He loved his wife, family, and his church. He was predeceased by his wife 68 ½ years, Lillian Davis Schroder. He is survived by his sons, G. Harry Schroder, Jr. of New York City, NY and M. Robert Schroder (Kathy) of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren Derrick John Schroder (Tabitha) of Bluffton, SC and Damian W. Schroder (Nellie) of Boise, ID; great-grandchildren Candice Schroder, Mariah Schroder, Gavin Schroder, and Gwyneth Schroder; and 1 sister-in-law Alma Davis Miltiadas of Savannah, GA. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Friday, August 2013 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3080 Okatie Highway, Bluffton with burial following at St. Luke's Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to either Hospice Savannah, PO Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, PO Box 2779, Bluffton, SC 29910. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Friday, August 2013 at St. Lukeâ
