George Harris Scott, 83, died Wednesday December 19, 2007 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center in Hilton Head Island, SC.He was born September 28, 1924 in Lumber City, GA. He was the son of the late John and Bertha Towns Scott.He was the owner and operator of Scotts Meats in Bluffton, SC. He was a member of the Bluffton Marine Rescue Squadron, and he was a Christian. He served in the US Merchant Marine and later during World War II he joined the US Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, Irene M. Scott of Bluffton, SC; one son, Raymond Jeff (Cindy) Scott of Bluffton, SC; two stepsons, Tony Ayers of Moncks Corner, SC and Michael Ayers of Ridgeland, SC; two daughters, June (Lee) Simoneaux of Bluffton, SC and Susie McNear of Port Wentworth, GA; two stepdaughters, Donna (Steve) Taylor of Williston, SC and Debbie (Walter) Criddle of Bluffton, SC; two brothers, Charles W. Scott of Lakeland, FL and Archie Heyward Scott Sr. of McRae, GA; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by his first wife, Julia Grizzard Scott; one daughter, Linda Scott and five brothers, Raymond Aaron Scott, William Otis Scott, Max Lanier Scott, James Dewey Scott, Sr. and Chester John Scott.Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 22, 2007 in the Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC with burial in the Bluffton Cemetery, Bluffton, SC. Visitation will be from 6 til 8 pm, Friday, December 21, 2007 at the funeral home.
