George Wallace (Wally) Hogan
Wally passed away at Savannah Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 26, 2013 after a sudden illness and surgeries. This following a lengthy decline in health.
Born on the 11th of October, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to parents George Thomas Hogan and Florence Phillips Hogan. Wally was the second oldest and last surviving sibling of eight children: Dorothy, Florence Ann, Thomas, Jack, Richard, Mary Ellen and Joe.
Wally met his wife Virginia at the University of Dayton where he was a graduate receiving a B.S. in Biology. Wally's bliss was flying. He received his wings as a naval pilot during WWII, and spent his career working as a civilian for the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio within the Aero Medical Lab.
Survived by his wife of 66 years: Virginia Lucille Hogan and three children: Terry, Kevin and daughter, Lisa. His youngest Holly Rujevcan (deceased). He was a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren: Jamie, Jennifer, Robin, Shane, Ryan and Troy, Marielle, Madison and Lia and 5 great grandchildren: Chelsea, Sydney, Bailey, Dominic and Devin.
A funeral mass in celebration of Wally's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, South Carolina 29909.
