It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Georgiann. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family 2/26/2026 at her sister’s home in Bluffton, SC. She was born on September 21, 1949, to John and Lois (McCabe) Kemper, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Kulpmont, attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School in 1967. Georgiann married John Hyduk on August 1, 1970, in the Patronage of the Mother of God Ukrainian Church in Marion Heights.
Following her graduation, Georgiann accepted a position with the Pennsylvania State Police in Harrisburg, a job she truly loved where she was able to form many lasting friendships and wonderful memories. She later returned to work closer to home in the Prothonotary Office at the Sunbury Courthouse. After the birth of their son, Chris, she chose to step away from her career to devote herself fully to raising him. In later years, prior to her retirement, her strong work ethic pushed her to employment at the Walmart Vision Center in Coal Township, where her caring and dependable nature shone through. She truly enjoyed working with clients and took great pride in helping them with their vision needs.
She was a kind person whose presence could light up a room. Music was not just something she listened to - it moved through her. She loved to dance, to feel the rhythm, and it always brought a smile to her face. She found peace and joy at the beach, especially during her time at Hilton Head, SC, where she said the sun, sand and ocean always felt like home. She also loved shopping and exploring antique and craft stores. And above all, she had a beautiful smile - one that could comfort you, welcome you, and stay with you long after she was gone.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, John, and her son, Chris, was the light of her life. She cherished the time they spent together and the memories they created, especially their trips to Wilkes-Barre to enjoy hockey games.
Over the past 6 years, Georgiann endured the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease with dignity and grace. Throughout it all, she remained grateful, caring, polite, and loving. She will be deeply missed by her family, as well as by all who knew her, especially her friends and staff at Canterfield of Bluffton. Everyone loved her!
Georgiann is survived by her husband John, of Coal Township, PA, son Chris and his wife, Becky of Dallas, PA; and her 2 sisters: Marsha and her husband, Bob of Bluffton, SC; and Marion and her husband, Jon of The Villages in FL. She leaves behind cherished nieces and nephew: Melanie, Scott, Katie and Mary. She also leaves behind a great niece Aggie and great nephews Jude and Theo. She was also preceded in death by her brother John.
The funeral mass will be held at 11am on 3/21/2026 at Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont, PA 17834. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am until the time of the mass at the church. Burial to follow at St. Edwards Cemetery in Shamokin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to friends of Caroline Hospice, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
