Georgina Smith

Georgina Smith of Hilton Head South Carolina, a fighter to the end, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2026, with her loving husband Skip by her side.

Gina was born on October 7, 1950 in Bayreuth, Germany to the late Derrel “Sarge” Mullikin and Babette Roder Mullikin. Gina lived in many places throughout her life, but her favorite was the Lowcountry. Skip and Gina spent many years vacationing on Hilton Head Island and exploring the surrounding areas and in 2016, they officially made South Carolina their home. A home that always had doors wide open to the friends and family that came to visit. Her home was a place of relaxation, sunshine, and fun. No matter what the weather she was often heard saying, “It’s just another day in paradise!”

Gina is survived by her loving and devoted husband Skip Smith, and their family, daughter and son-in-in law Amy and Andrew Edwards; son Jon Kirkpatrick; daughter Amanda Smith; and daughter and son-in-law Darcy and Jason Brown; as well as her brother Jerry Mullikin. Her grandchildren Sophia and Cole Edwards, Molly Kirkpatrick and Lincoln and Cameron Brown will dearly miss their Oma. She also leaves behind her cherished puppy Baxter and beautiful cat Zoe, whom she would lovingly refer to as her kids.

Gina was an artist. Creative and resourceful, she had a talent for finding opportunities to create. This included everything from sewing clothing and gifts when she was young, refinishing cabinets and tiling floors in her homes over the years, and making art through painting and crafting jewelry. Whether it was with a sewing machine, tile saw, paint brush or beads, she always had the knack for creating beautiful things and welcoming spaces, which she happily shared with the ones she loved. She will be missed dearly and has left us too soon.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
