Gerald "Jerry" Kelley

GERALD “JERRY” KELLEY went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2024. Jerry was born in Honesdale, PA on June 28, 1941. His parents were Margaret and Joseph Kelley. He lived a good part of his life in Mechanicsburg, PA. In 2000 he and his wife, Kathleen, moved to Sun City Hilton Head. Then in 2021 they moved to Okatie Pines in Bluffton.

Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, PA. He served in the US Marine Corps for six years as a reservist. His profession was an insurance agent for Allstate for thirty-four years. During this time, he established the Jerry Kelley & Son Agency in Mechanicsburg, PA. Jerry held both the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designations.

A life long Catholic he was an Honorary Fourth Degree Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Jerry was the 4th Degree Faithful Navigator in Mechanicsburg, PA. In Bluffton he was the Past Financial Navigator, in addition he was the K/C Honor Guard Captain. Jerry also served on the First-Degree Installation team.

Jerry was a life member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH). He was the founding father and first president of AOH Divisions in Penna and Beaufort County.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen. His children: son, Michael Patrick (Kate) of Davis, California; daughter, Colleen Kelley and grandson, Ian Urquhart both of Tucson, Arizona, and sister, Jane (Joel) Shiffler of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

His celebration of life will be at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on November 26. His viewing will be at 9:30 until Mass at 10:30. Burial will be at St. Gregory the Great Resurrection Gardens at a future date.
