Gerard James Arciero

Gerard James Arciero, 74, of Bluffton, SC died October 25, 2014 at Hilton Head Hospital. He was born on April 20, 1940 in New York City, New York, the son of the late Vincent and Mary LaScala Arciero. He was a graduate of St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY with a baccalaureate degree in business management and was a current student at University of South Carolina - Beaufort. A US Army Veteran during the Vietnam era, his professional career was as an insurance broker and the owner of Arciero Insurance Agency in the Greater Lowell, Massachusetts area. Settling in the Bluffton, SC area in 2006, Jerry was an avid fisherman and lover of the sea, loved to travel, a passionate New York Yankee fan, and a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary L. Sullivan Arciero of Bluffton, SC; son Colonel Cletus Anthony Arciero, MD, US Army, (Sara) of Augusta, GA a surgical oncologist; son Gerard James Arciero (Bridgette) of Westford, MA, a State Representative for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; daughter Susan Mary Arciero Frizzell (Dr. Eric) of Pinehurst, North Carolina, a children's book illustrator; brother Robert A. Arciero (Judy) of Rochester, New Hampshire; and 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Frizzell, Emerson Frizzell, John Arciero, Brooke Frizzell, and Deeley Arciero. The family will hold a private ceremony in Gerard's honor. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
