Gloria Wright Lyng

Gloria Wright Lyng, 89, of Hilton Head Island passed away May 22, 2014. She was born August 16, 1924 in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of Doris and Robert Flatt Wright, Jr. Gloria is survived by her children Barbara (Richard) Baroody of Bay Head, NJ; Chip (Ellen) Lyng of Hilton Head Island; Betsy (Bill) Sauter of Hilton Head Island; her sister Doris Rice of Bluffton, SC, and her brother Herbert Wright of Vero Beach, FL. She is also survived by her three grandsons; David Baroody of Philadelphia, PA; Sam Baroody of Athens, GA, and Peter Lyng of Doylestown, PA. She also had one great-grandson. Gloria had a brother, Robert Flatt Wright III and sister, Sally Wright who predeceased her. Gloria graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY in 1946 with a BS in psychology. She married Kenneth H. Lyng in 1947 and they lived in Westfield, NJ until her husband's death in 1982. Gloria then moved to Bay Head, NJ where she lived until 2011 when she moved to TidePointe on Hilton Head. Gloria will be remembered for her love of tennis, gardening, bridge, animals, the New York Giants and the New York Yankees.
