Gwendolyn Jane Berkowitz, 71, of Bluffton, South Carolina, formerly of Coram, New York, passed away peacefully at her home on October 22, 2012. Born December 4, 1940 in Richmond Hill, New York, she was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Helen (Williams) Blow, her husband, Nathan Berkowitz, her sister, Kathleen Hall and her infant daughter, Debra Jean.Gwen devoted most of her time and energy to her family and spending time with her great grand children. She loved to go fishing and crabbing with her husband as well as taking vacations to Disney World and Las Vegas. She had a passion for sewing, reading and studying her family genealogy. Gwen loved socializing with her friends while enjoying great food. In her spare time she would scout out hidden treasures at a garage sale or peruse the aisles of a local flea market. To Gwen, her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She lit up a room with her humor and her warm smile. Known to many as Mom, Grams, Gwennie, Auntie, G-ma,and Berkie, her loving and nurturing soul extended to everyone she encountered.Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Coffman, of Ocala, Florida and her son, William (Madeline) Ludeker of Bluffton, South Carolina. Granddaughters Anna (Mark) Kendrick , Georgia (Jake) Huber, Nicole Derrico, Krystal Hesler and Chelsey Moysey. Grandsons Konstandino Riganas, Charles (Alexandra) Moysey, Billy Ludeker and Bryan Ludeker. Niece Faye (Brian) Reddock ; five great granddaughters, Gabrielle, Brooke, Ava, Jenna and Abigail; and her beloved dog Caesar.Private services.
