H. Elaine Barlett , of Sun City, South Carolina started the long trip to her golf course of heavenly holes. She passed away on May 28, 2014, at Coastal Carolina Hospital after a prolonged illness at home.
Elaine was born December 24, 1923 in Swea City, Iowa to Curtis Samuel Kluger and Verna Anderson Kluger. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Jack D. Barlett. In addition she is survived by her son Jeffrey P. Steffens of West Lafayette, IN, and her grandson Phillip Steffens from Garrett, IN and a new great grandson named Colin Steffens, and her sister Dolores Elliott, who lives in Swea City, Iowa.
Elaine was a member of the U S Navy, as a WAVE during WWII, where she was a code taker stationed on Bainbridge Island near Seattle WA. She always felt that serving our country in this manner was the HIGHTLIGHT of her entire life, getting married to Jack came in second. She attended Navy Radio School at Miami University in Oxford, OH. She spent her working life as a bank systems salesperson for NCR in Dayton, OH, and later got her license and was a real estate salesperson. She was a member of the Sun City Veterans Association.
She was a loving wife, mother and Grandmother, friend and a wonderful treasure to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial will be held at the Sauls Funeral Home at 11:00 am on June 11, 2014 in Bluffton, SC. Her cremated remains will be interred in the National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC at 1:00 pm the same day.
