H. Stephen Christenson, Iii

November 15, 1942 — March 20, 2023

Christenson III, Dr. Harry Stephen D.D.S. BLUFFTON, SC

Harry Stephen Christenson III passed away on March 20, 2023, with his beloved wife Angel and family at his side.  He was born to Harry S. Jr and Jane B. Christenson on November 15, 1942, in Albany, NY.  He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1960, where he played for the varsity football, track and was a captain of his golf team.  He attended Manhattan College beginning in 1960, and graduated from University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1967.  He owned and operated his own private dental practice in Albany from his graduation until his retirement in 2006.

On April 1st, 1966, Steve married Angel in Albany, NY.  She was the love of his life and together they have two children, Greg and Kira, who grew up in Delmar, NY and Voorheesville, NY.  He was an active member of the Albany Country Club where he served on the Board of Directors and was President from 1988-1989 as well as being involved in numerous committees.

In 2006, Steve and Angel permanently relocated to the Hilton Head area where they had vacationed for years with their family.  Shortly thereafter they had their home built in Belfair, where Steve became an active member of the community.  He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family, drinking wonderful wine and making dinner reservations.  Steve was a lifelong Red Sox fan and was never happier than when the Red Sox beat the Yankees in 2004 for the ALCS Championship.  He enjoyed puttering in his yard and was adept at doing his daily Sudoku puzzle.  Over the years Angel and he were able to travel extensively around the world and in their later years especially enjoyed cruising.  Above all, Steve was a loving person who cared for his family, patients and his many cherished friends and neighbors with warmth and good cheer.  For those who knew him well, he was a constant friend to all with a large heart.  He was a compassionate, happy, and supportive person who in the end was a great friend to all.   He always left his presence felt at the end of the night by raising a glass and lifting the spirits of his family and friends.

Steve is survived by his wife of 56 years, Angel; his son, Greg and his wife Eileen and their children William and Courtney of Boulder, CO; his daughter, Kira Nelson and her husband Ed and their children, John, Katie, Connor and Teddy of Wellesley, MA; his younger sister Barbara Healy of Loudonville, NY; his younger brother Terry and his wife Robin Christenson of Albany, NY; and his youngest sister, Nancy Theissen and her husband Richard of Round Lake, NY and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved to spend time with. We will miss and cherish him and keep him in our hearts forever.
