Hal McGraw, age 61, passed away July 15, 2020. Hal McGraw was born on June 18, 1959 in Savannah, GA. He was the son of the late Roy McGraw and Virginia Roller McGraw. He spent his younger years on Hilton Head riding dirt bikes with his cousin Wilbert Roller. He had a passion for racing from the time he turned 18. He bought a car from Tommy Porter Jr that previously belonged to DD and David Into and began spending time with DD’s daughter Marcy. He and Marcy were married January 18, 1981 in Hardeeville. His most notable racing achievements include racing in the 1982 Goody’s 300 Sportsman race (at Daytona international speedway) after winning the Oglethorpe late model championship as a rookie, the most victories at Columbia Speedway in 1984, and winning the NASCAR Winston Racing Series late model championship in 1998. He and his son, Dustin, also won several championships racing go karts. He and his father opened McGraw’s Auto Salvage in the late 70’s. After closing the business in 2009 he joined LKQ as the Plant Manager, where he worked until 2016. At that time he opened Okatie Pinestraw. Hal enjoyed the last several years living his dream on the deep water of the Chechessee River. He is survived by his wife, Marcy Into McGraw, two children, Dustin (Morgan) McGraw and Megan (Dustin Brown) McGraw and two grandchildren, Greyson Huck and Evie Gail Brown. He is also survived by his sister Melanie (Laurence) Bolchoz, her children Joshua (Samantha), Kristen, and Andrew as well as his brother Steven McCoy and his daughter, Elizabeth. Along with and many cousins. Hal was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl McGraw.
