Hattie Louise Mixson

Hattie Louise Mixson, 77, of Early Branch, SC, wife of Olin Mixson, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Mixson was born October 20, 1939 in Grays, SC to the late Preston Smith and Hattie Robinson Smith. She was a graduate of Grays High School and a member of the basketball team, winning the state championship in 1957. Mrs. Mixson was a homemaker and an active member of Pine Level Baptist Church, where she served as a custodian for 23 years. She also sang in the choir, participated in the Women’s Ministry, and was a member of the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mixson is survived by her sons, Ronald Mixson and Anthony Mixson of Grays, SC; daughter, Sharon Moody of Grays, SC; brothers, Rufus Smith (Edna) of Hampton, SC, Gettis Smith (Virginia) of Grays, SC, and Tommy Smith of Grays, SC; sisters, Helen Crosby (Willie) of Brunson, SC and Bobbie Jean Kinard (Harry) of Grays, SC; grandchildren, Brian Mixson, Jennifer Mixson, Danielle Moody, Brandi Smiley (Trey), Tres Mixson, Madison Mixson, Landon Mixson, and Emily Whitkanack; and great grandchildren, Gage Smiley and Carter Smiley.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Pine Level Baptist Church, 2009 Pine Level Church Rd, Early Branch, SC with burial to follow at Sand Hill Cemetery, Pocotaligo Road, Varnville, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Noon until the hour of the service at the church. Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with arrangements.
