Helen Bolden

“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want”… Psalms 23:1 Helen Bolden was born October 18, 1938 in Ridgeland, South Carolina to the late Elizabeth Bolden Hamilton and the late Melvin Mitchell. She was mothered and raised by her maternal grandmother, the late Rhina Jenkins Bolden. Helen received her formal education through the Beaufort County Public School Systems. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and became a member of St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Renty E. Kitty, Jr. She was employed by The Seabrook of Hilton Head, SC as a professional housekeeper, retiring after many years of service. Helen enjoyed cooking so there was always a meal to share with family and friends. She will truly be missed in the community for everyone loved stopping by her house for a good conversation. On the morning of Wednesday, August 15, 2018, God in his glorious and infinite wisdom, called Helen to eternal rest. In addition to her parents and grandmother she was preceded in death by her sons, Steve and Michael Bolden; brothers, Joe Bolden, John and David Hamilton, Rufus and Ernest Bolden; sisters, Magdalene Nelson, Marion Jenkins, Clara Bolden and Lucille Bush. Her memories will forever be cherished by her four sons, Edward Bolden (Margaret), Leroy Bolden, Barry Anthony Bolden and Russell Cannick (Ineth) of Ridgeland, SC; one adopted son, Rev. Harry Cheney of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers, Nathaniel Hamilton (Diane) of Levy, SC; Earl Hamilton of Savannah, GA; five sisters, Josephine Chaplin, Rose Parker, Geneva Hamilton and Dolores Hamilton of Savannah, GA and Ann Bolden of Ridgeland, SC. Helen also raised two of her grands, Anthony Barry Bolden and Shawtovia Bolden; 18 grands, 40 great grands; 3 great great grands, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Ridgeland. Burial will follow in Low Bottom Cemetery.
