Helen A. Delaney

Helen A. Delaney passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 75, at home in Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina. Born on November 23, 1948, Helen's early education took place in Chicago, Illinois, where she attended St. Thomas More grammar school, followed by Academy of Our Lady and Bogan High School. She furthered her education at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois.

Helen's career was marked by significant contributions to Joseph T. Ryerson Steel Corp from 1967 to 1982 and later at Lake Forest Academy, where she found her calling. From 1989 until her retirement in 2014, Helen brought joy and love to students and teachers alike.  Her professional and personal life was characterized by her vivacious and caring nature, making her a beloved figure to all in the LFA community.

Helen was a devout member of St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton, South Carolina. Known for her intelligence, wit, and thoughtfulness, she was a source of light and laughter to all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tom Delaney, her "adopted" granddaughters Caitlin Delaney Fallert and Lillian Rose Fallert, and their parents John and Eileen (Betsy) Fallert. Other family members include her sister Beatrice Hardiman (James), niece Shannon O'Hara Conley (Jay), great-nephew PJ Conley, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen O'Hara; brothers James O'Hara (Margaret) and Patrick; and sister Patricia Foody (Michael).
