Helen M. LochbihlerMidway, GAHelen Cope Merriman Cummings Lochbihler, went to our Lord on March 3rd, 2012 from Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond Hill, GA. She was born on January 20th, 1921 in Moncks Corner, SC, the daughter of the late Perry Edward Merriman and Nellie May Cope Merriman. She was preceded in death by her spouses, John William Cummings, Sr., Charles Lochbihler and her dear son, John William Cummings, Jr. The family now is her dear son Scott Jeremy Cummings and his wife Judy, their children and grandchildren and the children of her deceased sisters, Elizabeth Merriman Fleming and Jean Perry Merriman Glasser. Helen was a South Carolinian and a resident of New Jersey and Georgia. She attended Winthrop College and the Berkley Business School where she graduated with honors. Helen was then recruited to the Westminster Choir School after Eugene Castlemann heard Helen singing in the church choir. Thus began her lifelong soprano singing that brought joy to the people who heard her sing. As Helen leaves us after a full life of 91 years, we know that she will be greeted by the Lord our God and his son Jesus Christ and the many family and friends who preceded her in her journey. She will be most missed by her son Scott who loved her very much.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 09, 2012 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgeland, SC with burial in the Ridgeland Cemetery.Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements.
