Herbert Webster Johnson, 93, of Grays, SC, passed away on November 3, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Herb was born in Sylvania, GA on August 5, 1923 to the late William Hershel Johnson and Maggie Mae Williams Johnson.
He was a graduate of Sylvania High School in 1940 and an honors graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology in 1951. As an Army Veteran of WWII stationed in India, he served as an airplane mechanic. Herb was employed by Westinghouse Corporation as an Industrial Engineer until his retirement. He was a member of The American Institute of Industrial Engineers. He loved to read, drink coffee and watch Fox News. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Elizabeth Smith Johnson of Grays. He is survived by his daughter, Linda M. Dailey (Brent) of Grays, son Michael V. Martin of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Dr. Mychele C. Rhodes (Steve) of Thomson, GA, Kristen C. Johnson (Warren) of Ridgeland, SC, Brian M. Martin, of Austin, Texas, Jessica M. McLaughlin (Curtis) of Charlotte, NC and Tyler Martin of Charlotte, NC; four great grandchildren, Emma and Reagan Rhodes of Thomson, GA and Amelia and Madeline Johnson of Ridgeland, SC, a niece, Janice J. Anderson of Richmond Hill, GA, and a nephew, Billy Johnson of Statesboro, GA.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Pine Level Baptist Church, Grays, SC followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Grimes Cemetery, Grays, SC.
