Herbert S. Owen, known to friends as Steve, died on May 26, 2013 while residing in Bluffton, South Carolina. He was born in the Bronx on March 5, 1921 To Herbert and Harriet Owen. He served in the army during World War II and was deployed to Italy and North Africa. After the war, Steve married Jane May. They had two daughters.
Steve worked in the broadcast, advertising, and motor cycle industries. He lived in Bergen County NJ for most of his working career. Upon retiring, he moved to Putnam/Westchester counties in NY. Steve had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and loved being by the water. He loved to travel especially on cruises.
Steve was predeceased by his wife Jane in 1991. He is survived by daughter Barbara Block, her husband Lawrence, daughter Melissa, her husband William, and grandchildren Steven Block, Melissa Block, William Buco, and Matthew Buco.
A luncheon will be held in his honor for family and friends in NJ....
Herbert and Jane will be laid to rest in Arlington Nation Cemetery in Washington D.C. at a future date.
