Herman Carl Hauprich, 85, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Hilton Head, Hilton Head Island, SC.He was born on April 14, 1922 in Albany, NY. He was the son of the late Herman Carl, Sr. and Hazel Foster Hauprich. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bluffton. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and served on P.T. boat # 185 in the South Pacific. He was a retired engineer of the New York Central Railroad, Conrail, and Amtrak; and was a former Chief of Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Sun City Woodworkers Club and made toys for various charities.He is survived by his wife, Marilyn B. Hauprich of Bluffton, SC; two daughters, Linda J. (Morgan) Denny of Columbia, SC, and Susan L. (David) Bender of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Donald R. Hauprich of Albany, NY; one sister, Rita Roney of Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, David B. (Michelle) Denny, Timothy S. Denny, and Christopher J. Denny; and one great grandchild, Colin D. Denny.A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Lord of Life Building Fund, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910.
