Hilda Brannen

Hilda Brannen, 93 of Hilton Head Island and widow of Freddie Brannen, passed away on March 7, 2017 at the Hilton Head Hospital. Mrs. Brannen was born in Odom, Georgia on February 15, 1924 to the late Frank Smith and Annie Bell Brown Smith. Mrs. Brannen was a retired supervisor for Benny Hudson Seafood Corporation and loved gardening. During World War II she was a welder for Battleship Construction where due to her small size she fit into spaces that no one else could weld. She is survived by her son, William S. Brannen (Virginia) of Hilton Head Island; her daughters, Norma Brannen and Barbara Hudson both of Hilton Head Island; her brother, Grady Smith of Prattsville, AL and her grandchildren, Tonya Hudson, Andrea Gardner (Paul), Freddie Brannen, Terry Fuller (Randy) and numerous great grandchildren and her grandchild in law, Mary Ann Hudson. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Smith; her sister, Helen Dubberly and her grandchildren, Angela Brannen and Butch Hudson. A Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family only.
