Holly Ann (Shippey) Hamilton

Holly Ann Shippey Hamilton was born December 20, 1956 in the Bronx, New York to Neville Shippey and Lilleth Shippey.

She was educated in the New York School and graduated high school from Roosevelt High School in 1974. She attended Bronx Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree as a Medical Assistant.

She married Robert L. Hamilton on July 22, 1981.  To that union two children were born, Tameeka L. Hamilton and Robert L. Hamilton Jr.

Holly worked at North Central Hospital in New York as a unit secretary. She relocated to Hilton Head Hospital. Holly relocated back to New York and worked for the Clerk of Court for 14 years. She then relocated back to South Carolina where she worked for the United States Postal Service for 15 years. She retired from the Post Office on May 2021.

Holy was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles. She loved Reggae music and 60’s Doo Whoop Music and spending time with her friends.  Her favorite color was Pepsi Cola Blue.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lilleth Shippey and her father, Neville Shippey.  Her brother, Patrick Shippey and brother in law Joseph Hamilton Jr.

She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Robert L. Hamilton Sr., one daughter, Tameeka L. Hamilton (Johnny L. Mitchell), one son, Robert L. Hamilton Jr., one sister, Maria (LC) Shippey; one brother, Leaton Shippey; brother-in-law, Michael (Selma) Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Ethelmae (James) Cohen, Patricia A (Glen) Bassett, Debora’h L. (Soloman) Hemmings; a special niece, Ebonee Robinson; an adopted niece, Santina Welken; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. Holly also had friends at the Post Office that became her family.

Holly’s family would like to thank Dr. Gary Thomas and staff, MUSC in Charleston, and Coastal Carolina Hospital for their care and comfort during her illness.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
