Howard "Hal" Hallecks, age 79, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Davenport, FL and Brewster, NY died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Hallecks was born on January 4, 1936 in New York, NY, the son of the late Karl Edward Hallecks and Emma Rindfleisch Hallecks. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on board the USS Wasp. He also served the city of New York with the NYPD, retiring as a gold shield detective. He was a member of the Low Country Retired & Active Law Enforcement Association including the Cold Case Squad. He was a lifelong learner and into his retirement, enrolled in OLLI and took many adult ED and college courses to expand his knowledge and diverse interests.
Mr. Hallecks was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann Clifford Hallecks; his daughter, Patty Hansel; and his grandson, Chris Brink. He is survived by his son, James H. Hallecks of Jensen Beach, FL; daughters, Liz Brink of Brewster, NY, Mary Bondi (Ralph) of Brewster, NY, and Terry Bell (Brian) of Brewster, NY; son-in-law, Ron Hansel of Camp Hill, PA; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
