Hugh Edward Hughes

Hugh Edward Hughes, 89 of Ravenel, SC passed away on August 27 , 2016 at NHC Healthcare, Charleston, SC. Mr. Hughes was born in Ridgeland, SC on April 3, 1927 to the late Hugh Hughes and Bernice Cooler Hughes. Mr. Hughes was owner of H.E. Hughes Construction Company of Ravenel, SC; a member of the Church of God in Summerville; enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing his guitar. He had recorded several songs over the years. He enjoyed tending to his farm in Ridgeland. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and served twelve years in the Navy Reserves. Mr. Hughes is survived by his sons, H. Edward Hughes Jr. (Beth) of Walterboro, SC, Larry J. Hughes (Kim) of Seabrook, SC and Lewis C. Hughes (Yvonne) of Walterboro, SC; his daughters, Marie Baker (Roger) of Cottageville, SC and Miriam Newton of Houston, TX; his brother, A. Roy Hughes (Margaret) of Ridgeland, SC; his sister, Norma Fogle of Ridgeland, SC and grandchildren, Mark, Jennifer, Leslie, Jason, Michelle, Meggine, Melissa, Dale, Gary, Kelli , Chad and Kim. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC . Burial with military honors will follow in Ridgeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the funeral home.
