Hugh (Hughie) Krieger

Hugh (Hughie) Krieger, passed away quietly at his home on June 14, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Marcia Krieger, and is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Alice (nee Wologo), son Adam Krieger, and extended family including brother-in-law Al Wologo (Laurie), nephews Doug Wologo, Ethan Wologo, niece Rachel Kreager (Mike), and his lifelong friend Bennett Mayer (Lydia). A native of northwest Indiana, Hughie retired from teaching after 32 years at Thornton Fractional High School in Calumet City, Illinois. After retiring, he and Alice soon moved to Hilton Head Island and immediately knew they had found their special place, where they spent the last 15 years adoring their dogs Riley and Abby, loving their neighborhood and neighbors as well as the Pelican and other friendships made along the way at the Country Club of Hilton Head. Hughie, with his gentle sense of humor, had a passion for golf, fishing, gardening, all things nature and was an avid lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Indiana University basketball. Donations may be made in his memory to the Hilton Head Humane Association or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. A private funeral service was held with the assistance of Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton.
