Vaigneur, Hugh Oswell (Ozzie) age 82, of Knoxville, formerly of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away at home on Monday, April 25, 2011. He was born September 6, 1928, in Ridgeland, South Carolina to the late Hugh Lee Vaigneur and Sarah Malphrus Vaigneur. Ozzie was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, and a former member of Woodland Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee, where he served as a deacon for many years. Although Ozzie's accomplishments were many, his life was best characterized by a sacrificial love for his family, a humble service to those around him, and a gentleness of spirit that brought joy to those whose lives he touched. The eldest of ten children, Ozzie grew up in a farming family. He came to know and love the Lord as a child and to understand the importance of sharing that love through service to others. He was active in his church and 4-H Club, and he served in the U.S. Army. His interest in agriculture led him to earn his bachelors and his master's degrees from Clemson University and his PhD from Iowa State University, all in agricultural engineering. His 23 years of service with the University of Tennessee included teaching and administration on the UT Knoxville Agricultural Campus and working tirelessly as a specialist with the UT Agricultural Extension Service in Jackson..
