Ivan E. Baker, age 78, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at his winter home in Bluffton, SC, with his beloved wife, Karenlynn Baker, at his side. For several years, Ivan maintained residences in both Bluffton, SC, and Concord, Ohio. Ivan Baker was born on April 19, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Max and Frances Baker. He attended Euclid High School and graduated from John Carroll University with a degrees in Physics and Electronics. His first marriage was to the former Judith Domitor of Ohio, with whom he had three sons. Ivan worked at Lincoln Electric in Euclid, Ohio as a Research Physicist until his retirement. In 1999 and 2000, he was the Inventor on two of the company’s patents and received the company’s prestigious “Man of the Year” award. He is survived by his wife, Karenlynn Baker; sons, Ivan E. Baker, Jr., Ryan Baker, and Vernon Baker (Jenny); brother, Paul Francis Baker (Mary); sister, Dr. Carol Boulware (Bryan); and grandsons, Justin and Brandon Baker. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Saul’s Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 with a reception immediately following at the residence.
