Dr. J. M. Bennett Jr.

Dr. J. M. Bennett Jr., 79, died Monday, November 3, 2008 in the Coastal Carolina Medical Center, Hardeeville, SC.He was born in Ruffin, SC on August 6, 1929. He was the son of the late Joe Monnie and Versie Breland Bennett.He was a Medical Doctor who graduated from the MUSC School of Medicine. He was Board Certified in Forensics and Abdominal Surgery. He was a graduate of the MUSC Pharmacy School. He practiced medicine in Belton, SC, Charleston, SC, Beckley, West VA, Estill, Hampton and Ridgeland, SC. He served as Chief of Staff at Low Country General Hospital in Ridgeland, SC. He was a member of the James Island Masonic Lodge and he served in the SC National Guard. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He a recipient of the Jasper County Rotary Club Distinguished Service Award. He was an ordained Baptist Minister.He is survived by three daughters, Stephanie (Joel) O
