J. Edward Clements

James Edward Clements, 70 of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at his home.He was born in Ridgeland, SC on May 17, 1940. He was the son of the late James Robert Clements and Dorothy Wiggins Clements Smith.He had worked on Hilton Head Island since 1963 serving as Assistant General Manger and Director of Conventions for the William Hilton Inn before becoming Group Service Manager and Convention Coordinator for the Sea Pines Company where he worked for over 43 years. He was a member of the North Island Baptist Church and attended the University of South Carolina. He worked for the Purdy family of Ridgeland in their KB Supermarket starting at the young age of 13.He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Mixson Clements of Hilton Head Island, SC; two daughters, Sandi Clements (Craig) Brewer of Buford, GA and Lauri Clements ( Kevin) Grant of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Billy (Christine) Clements of Ridgeland, SC, Bobby (Karen) Clements of Leonard Town, Maryland and Wallace (Genie) Smith of Ridgeland, SC; three sisters, Ann C. (Paul) Horry of Ridgeland, SC, Shirley (R.E.) Barker of Mims, FL and Jane (Buster) Raymond of Homestead, FL; three grandchildren, Olivia Grace Brewer and twins, Sophie and Isabelle Brewer.Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the North Island Baptist Church, 3800 Main Street, Hilton Head Island, SC with burial in the Six Oaks Cemetery, Sea Pines Plantation.
