Jack C. Richards, age 79, entered into eternal rest on July 16, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.
He was born June 26, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Jack Chester Richards and Ruth Elizabeth (“Peg”) Richards.
He graduated from Greeneville High School, Greeneville, TN, and studied Art at East Tennessee State University. He continued his education at the Tomlinson School of Design, St. Petersburg, FL, and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
He made his career as an Art Director—owning his own graphic design business and working at American Greetings. His career took him to Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, and to South Carolina where he lived and worked for many years, retiring in Bluffton.
Jack enjoyed many hobbies. He was a gifted artist across multiple mediums and was most proud of his paintings in watercolors and oils. He had a lifelong love of golf—starting as a caddy and becoming an accomplished amateur playing at courses such as Pebble Beach, Oakmont, and Ballybunion. He was an automobile enthusiast. Over the years, he restored many cars including his beloved 1972 Corvette Stingray.
Jack was a man of deep faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Terri Greenwell; children, Jack Christopher Richards (Nicole), Jennifer Richards Price (Jim), Julie Jean Knight (Danny), and stepdaughter, Katie Greenwell (Stephen Lee); grandchildren, Beth Anne Landers (CJ), Joey Knight (Megan), Cole Richards, Kyle Richards, Jackson Price, Ryan Knight (Makenzi), Aidan Price, and Jude Knight; four great-grandchildren; two adored sisters, Peggy Ann Fluent (Fran) and Jean Smith; and a niece and several nephews.
The family would like to thank special friends Mike and Suzy Weston for decades of love and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 12–1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at Saul’s Funeral Home, Bluffton. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at Six Oaks Cemetery, Sea Pines, Hilton Head Island. Pallbearers will be Jack’s seven grandsons.
