Jacqueline Ann (Sanatore) De Simone

May 24, 1941 — November 17, 2023

Jacqueline Ann De Simone, also known as Jackie, went home to her Lord and Savior on November 17, 2023, at the age of 82 in Bluffton, South Carolina. She was born on May 24, 1941, in Ozone Park, New York, she was a cherished daughter of Joseph and Viola Sanatore. Jackie was preceded in her journey by her beloved sisters, Jeanette Sanatore and Marie Rafferty, as well as her esteemed parents.

Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Desi De Simone, her sons Daniel and John De Simone, and her daughter Debra De Simone Waldorf. She is also survived by her sister Frances Burchill.

Jackie's life was a testament to the values she held dear. With grace and humility, she pursued her education at John Adams High School and later dedicated herself to a career as an Administrative Assistant for St. Christopher-Ottilie Home for Boys and Girls. Her unwavering commitment and tireless efforts exemplified her deep respect for all of creation.

Jackie had a passion for plants, reading, singing, dancing, and signing (sign language).  She found joy in nurturing her plants, immersing herself in books, and expressing herself through music, sign and dance. Her vibrant spirit and love for life were evident in all her hobbies. She loved to combine sign language with dancing. Her favorite dance songs were “We Are Family” (Sister Sledge) and “Celebration” (Kool & The Gang).  At any celebration or gathering, you would find her on the dance floor with her sisters, Marie, Jan and Fran or with her beloved husband, crazy legs De Simone, boogieing the night away. She also loved Frank Sinatra because her dad Joseph Sanatore would sing "I did it my way."  And she certainly did it her way!

She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help and she did it with all of her heart. She volunteered at schools and assisted living locations.  Everywhere Jackie went she touched someone.  She was an extraordinary person.

In the quiet moments that she cherished, Jackie found solace and joy in the embrace of her faith. She was a devoted member of the St. Gregory the Great community, where she sought spiritual nourishment and guidance. Through her devotion, she exemplified the virtues of gratitude, kindness, and reverence for the divine. Her devotion was praying to St. Jude of Thaddeus. She lived a simple life of great faith.

She will be missed deeply by all that surrounded her. May the memory of Jackie's life continue to inspire us all to embody the virtues of humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation.
