Jacques "Jackie" Charles Smith, 67, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. He was born in Ridgeland, SC on December 09, 1946 to Valerie Boline Smith and the late Connie L. Smith. He was a Truck Driver; a member of Pine Level Baptist Church; US Army Veteran of Viet Nam; member, Red Warriors of Viet Nam and a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed farming and loved to plant watermelons and corn. He is survived by his mother, Valerie Smith of Ridgeland, SC; wife, Maudette Parker Smith of Grays, SC; two sons, Joseph Rodney Smith and Rodney Charles Smith (Jennifer), both of Grays, SC; daughter, Susan Smith Scott (Michael) also of Grays, SC; brother, Morris Smith of Grays, SC; aunt, Elsie Holsopple of Ridgeland, SC and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rodney Armand Smith and Dennis Arthur Smith. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Grimes Cemetery in Grays, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland, SC. Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements.
