James M. Brennan, Jr.

James M. Brennan, 84, of Bluffton, SC passed away on May 13, 2026.

James was born April 7, 1942 to James and Teresa Brennan in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up in Teaneck New Jersey and attended St. Cecilia high school. Jim received a full football scholarship and graduated from the University of Vermont in Burlington, where he met and married his wife Anita Brennan of 61 years. In their twenties, Jim and Anita moved back to NJ and raised their family in New Milford, NJ. They later resided near the Jersey shore in Howell and Wall Township. In 2010, Jim and his wife moved to Bluffton, SC. In retirement, Jim enjoyed tennis, pickleball and golf along with vacationing in Vermont with his wife. Jim participated in the Senior Olympics and at age 60 even went back to college in order to play competitively on the tennis team.

Jim is survived by his children Michael (Susan) Brennan of Florida and daughter Susan Brennan of South Carolina. Also his grandchildren Jake and Jenna Brennan of Florida. His siblings Barbara Maione (Nelson) of South Carolina and Richard Brennan (Cathy) of New Jersey.

Preceded in death by his parents James and Teresa and his wife Anita.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
