James Regis Fitchko

James Regis Fitchko, 69, of Bluffton, S.C. lost his brief struggle with bladder cancer and passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024.

Jim was a loving and devoted husband of 43 years to Rebecca (Koziol) and an amazing brother and friend. Everyone who knew him will always remember his kindness, smile, laughter, gentle heart and generosity.

Born July 11, 1955, in Canton, OH, he was the son of the late Steve and Veronica (Smetanka) Fitchko and preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Fitchko.  He will be sorely missed by his siblings Robert  (Therese) Fitchko, Karen (George) Fawver and Kathy (Paul) Lively, all of Ohio;  sister-in-law Janet Fitchko of Florida and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was a 1973 graduate of Timken Vocational HS and a dedicated employee of The Timken Company in Canton, Ohio for over 35 years.  Also, an outstanding employee of the Marriott Resorts in Hilton Head for several years.  Jim enjoyed watching football, golfing and many miles of walking and bicycling with his energetic wife.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 25th, at 10:30 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, S.C.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jim’s memory, may be made to St Jude’s Research.
