James M. Giovanazi of Hilton Head Island passed away at his home on November 1, 2018 at the
age of 85. He was a native of California and a graduate of Occidental College (1954) and
McGeorge School of Law (1979). He retired from the USAF after a distinguished career as a
navigator, engineer and base commander (1954-1974). In 1981 he returned to Aiken and
renewed many of his friendships formed during his term as commander of the Aiken Air Force
Station radar installation (1970-1972). He moved to Hilton Head Island in 1988. He loved his
life in South Carolina and was passionate about classical music, opera, the arts and his grand
piano. He is survived by Loretta, his wife of 39 years.
