James David Goodson Sr.

Mr. James "David" Goodson, Sr. died Monday, August 24, 2015, in Bluffton, SC after a long illness. He was 84. David was preceded in death by his wife, Durie Lee Goodson on July 24, 1997. David is survived by his children: Melissa Goodson Daniels of Woodstock, GA; Kendall Goodson Dudley and her husband David Billows of Ft. Wayne, In.; Jennifer Goodson Seyden and her husband Arnie Seyden of Canton, Ga, and James David Goodson, Jr. and his wife Susan Goodson of Wilmette, IL. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren. David was born on March 31, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia. He studied engineering at Georgia Tech and he served the Army in the Korean War. He met and married his wife in Chicago, Illinois in 1959 where he began an extensive career with Massey Ferguson as Executive Vice-President of the Industrial Construction Machinery Division. Upon retirement, he pursued his dream of owning his own business and along with Durie, opened RSVP Special Events in Savannah, GA and Bluffton, SC. He was a past president for the American Rental Association. A private service was held by family. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Bloomfield Senior Living Community for their dedicated care of Mr. Goodson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry and Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, HHI. A private service was held by family.
