James Montgomery Herring (Jim)

James Montgomery Herring (Jim) died peacefully on Monday, April 23. Jim was born on December 23, 1938 to James Matthew Herring and Grace Elge, both deceased, and his sister, Olivia (deceased). He is survived by daughter Elizabeth ( Mark) Smith, Grays, SC, son, Timmons ( Beth) Herring, Bluffton, SC, his two grandsons, Alex and Sam, and his brother, Frank Elge. Jim graduated from USC both undergraduate and law school. He enjoyed a remarkable legal career in Hartsville SC and Hilton Head...and truly was a respected scholar of the law. A “Raise a Toast” for Jim will be Friday, April 27 at Dockside at Skull Creek from 5 -7.
