James Bowie "Jimbo" Thompson

James Bowie “Jimbo” Thompson, 62 of Ridgeland, SC passed away on February 1, 2018 at Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville, SC after a brief illness. Jimbo was born in Savannah, GA on January 3, 1956 to the late Robert Thomas Thompson and Betty Johnson Thompson. Jimbo was the owner of Thompson Landscaping Company; a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he served as Senior Warden; graduate of Thomas Heyward Academy and Newberry College. Jimbo was known for his cooking skills, especially his famous shrimp creole. Jimbo will be missed for his compassion and caring attitude. He guided those who felt hopeless and lost to the Lord. One said because of Jimbo, “ I have a new life and Heaven has a new warrior.” Jimbo is survived by his brothers, Rev. Robert T. Thompson (Susan) of Vidalia, GA and David Jefferson Thompson (Janie) of Ladson, SC; his sister, Jean T. Wessinger (Dr. Derek) of Gray Court, SC and nine nieces. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Holy Trinity Church, 2718 Bees Creek Rd, Ridgeland followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at the Thompson Family Cemetery, Old River Rd, Mt. Vernon, GA.
