James Edward Mack Sr. (Big James) of Hinesville, Georgia entered eternal rest on Tuesday March 28, 2017. He was born in Liberty County, he was the son of Henrietta “Joyce” Mack of Hinesville. He was educated in Hinesville, graduated from Bradwell Institute and he attended Georgia Southern University. He formally served in the U. S. Army Reserve in Hinesville, was employed at Georgia Department of Corrections, then later moved on to be employed at Weyerhaeuser International Paper. James enjoyed spending time with his son. His son shares these words: It's really tragic that he departed this world so soon. We were just in the process of really reconnecting after a while of not having much time to see each other. However, his loss does and will ache, but there was a certain quality in him that I feel within myself. He was a strong and intellectual person. He had a fairness and sternness about him when I was with him that I have been wanting ever since we became distant. I've no doubt he wished the best for everyone around him, and especially with his passing, he would not have wanted to see people suffer because of it. The world lost a cool person, but the legacy he has left behind, both tangible and intangible, has forever marked my world. He cannot be replaced, it is precisely because of that fact, that I can cherish everything he has taught and shared with me. He has transitioned from being solely a father, but into a personal legend whom I will admire and tell stories about to our next generation Big James was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandmother Louise Fabian and his uncle Leroy Fabian. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son James E. Mack Jr of Midway, Georgia, his mother Henrietta Joyce Mack of Hinesville, and his son’s mother Bonnie Mack from Midway, and a host of relatives, friends and co-workers. Grave side services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Taylor Creek.
