James McQuade of Bluffton, SC passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsfield, MA, raised as a Catholic and grew up in Natick, MA. He attended Ohio Northern University and then graduated from Ohio State University as a mechanical engineer with a degree in philosophy. He had a career in HVAC industry at Children’s Hospital, Honeywell and then Trane. This led to starting up his own business in the field.
In his early years, he was involved in track and football in high school and on the hockey team at Ohio State University. He volunteered to coordinate his Natick High School reunions including their 60th reunion. Jim joined Sigma Phi Epsilon at OSU and was a committee member for the fraternity housing project. He was active in Fairfax, VA Elks Lodge and volunteered for the Bingo nights. Since 1982, James enjoyed boating the East Coast waterways, especially with his beloved trawler “Lone Wolf”. James was a member of America’s Boating Club and was certified as a Boating Safety Instructor. He traveled quite extensively until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
James was survived by his wife, Kathy McQuade, his daughter, Lauren McQuade and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Michael McQuade.
