James Nettles

KNIGHTDALE, NC: James B. Nettles, 60, passed away on January 7, 2011 at Duke Raleigh Hospital after a six month fight with cancer. Born on January 19, 1950 in Hardeeville, SC; he was the son of the late Charles and Louise Young Nettles. James was a life insurance agent for over 38 years, working with Independent Life in SC, Liberty and United Insurance of America. Following retirement, he worked within funeral service, most recently with Brown-Wynne and Mitchell Funeral Homes in Raleigh.James enjoyed NASCAR, NC State football, and having a good laugh.James is survived by his wife, of 18 years, Betty; son: Christopher Nettles and wife Carmen, of Falkville, GA; step-daughters: Wendy Griffin, of Longmont, CO and Holly Cannon and husband Troy, of Chester, GA; six grandchildren; brothers: Carl C. Nettles and wife Frieda, of Apex, Leland Nettles, of Hardeeville, SC, Randolph L. Nettles and wife Judy, of Hardeeville, SC; sisters: Verna N. Gillikin, of Hardeeville, SC and Irma N. Huggins and husband Dan, of Greenville, SC and by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.He was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Frank Nettles.Family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (300 St. Mary
