James Robert Smith

James Robert Smith, age 80, of Estill, SC passed away on February 17, 2023 in the Hampton Regional Hospital.

Mr. Smith was born on June 15, 1942 in Eden, GA to the late Jim Smith and Lucille Mock Smith.

Mr. Smith was a logistics specialist for Coca Cola Bottling Company and a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church.  His passion was country music, playing his guitar and singing in several country music bands over the years.  His favorite music included Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings.

He is survived by his son, Greg Smith of Beaufort, SC; two sisters, Peggy Jarrell (Cotesworth Lee Jarrell) and Doris Bowers (Jimmy Bowers) all of Estill, SC and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Smith and two great grandchildren, J’Leigh and Jordan Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Grimes Cemetery, Grays. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm at Grimes Cemetery until the hour of the service at 3:00 pm.
