James M. Szarka, 74 of Bluffton, SC, peacefully passed away at home. James was born on August 31, 1950 to Ellen and Alex Szarka in Manhattan, New York. James is survived by his wife Rita Chietera, his daughter Jeanine Szarka Addimando, his son-in-law Louis Addimando, grandson Anthony Addimando, and daughter Christina Szarka. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Alex and Charles Szarka.
James served his country in the USAR from 1972-1978. After graduating college, he he went on to a Planning and Telecommunications career for 34 years.
In 2004, James and his wife Rita, relocated to the Low Country of South Carolina. His interpersonal skills and love for helping people carried over into a second career in real estate. Jim, as everyone called him, was known for his smile and sense of humor. He was always available to help a friend in need. In his spare time Jim loved to fix old bikes, golfing, boating, and fishing with family or friends. He especially loved doing these things each summer with his grandson, Anthony.
