James Allen Van Nus

Longtime resident of Hilton Head Island, SC (formerly of Grand Rapids, MI), James Allen VanNus, has passed this life and is now in the loving arms of Jesus. He lived a full life of 76 years. He joins his mother, Eldora, his father, Henry, and his sister, Marilyn in Heaven. James is survived by his wife, Cynthia, his daughter, Khrysta Locke and her husband, Vincent, and their three sons, Ethan, Jonathan, and Thomas. He served his country in the Army from 1962-1967, often remarking that those years were “the best of his life”. Jim was a constant scholar - most recently his academic rigor was focused on the book of Revelations. Jim had a successful career in medical insurance sales. Jim was a very kind and patient man, always able to make a friend of anyone, and his high intelligence and remarkable insight made for a great conversationalist. He loved to sing and was gifted with a beautiful tenor voice. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Grand Rapids, MI. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Lowcountry or Society of Bluffton Artists.
