On Saturday, July 23, 2022, Janet Beth Bodoh, loving wife and mother of three, passed away at age 83. Janet was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 20, 1938 to parents, Richard and Ruth (Knierim) Niebusch. She had one sibling, Richard Charles Niebusch.
Janet graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1956, earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in 1961, and continued her post graduate studies at The Ohio State University. She generously passed on her love of learning as a junior high and high school teacher, ending her career as an English instructor at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. She never missed an opportunity to help a friend use correct grammar.
Janet was a talented musician who played the oboe with the Cincinnati Civic Symphony and the Ohio University Orchestra and Marching Band. She also enjoyed playing the piano and would sometimes delight her friends and family with impromptu concerts when the opportunity arose.
In addition to her achievements and quick wit, we remember her generous contributions to the community. Janet was an active member of the Angels of Easter Seals and the Youngstown Symphony Society Auxiliary. She also loved animals, including Newfound and Great Pyrenees dogs. She adopted several including two from the Great Pyrenees Rescue Atlanta.
Most recently, Janet enjoyed memberships with the Church of the Cross in Bluffton, South Carolina and the South Carolina Yacht Club on Hilton Head Island.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, William Thomas Bodoh of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She is also survived by three daughters, Melissa (husband Kevin Rochlitz and daughter Riley) of Alpine, Wyoming; Amy (husband John Guzman and son Enzo) of West Hollywood, California; and Emily (husband Stephen Smith and daughters Sasha and Elle) of Dublin, Ohio.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please help us celebrate Janet’s life by making donations in her name to the Great Pyrenees Rescue Atlanta, www.greatpyratlanta.com .
