Janet Joanne Singer

May 2, 1944 — July 18, 2025

Bluffton

Janet Joanne (Faught) Singer, age 81, returned to the Lord on July 18, 2025, in Bluffton, South Carolina. Janet was born on May 2, 1944, in Arcadia, Florida, to Bernard and Marlene Faught, and raised in Charles City, Iowa—a place she always considered her hometown.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jan’s greatest joy came from the love of her family. She shared nearly 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Dick Singer, with whom she was set to celebrate their milestone anniversary this August.

Together, Jan and Dick embraced a life of adventure, living in many parts of the country and making cherished friendships along the way—from their college days at the University of Northern Iowa to their homes from California to Kansas to Ohio.  Since 1994, they have called South Carolina home.  She travelled to Europe, Trinadad and Tobago, Taiwan multiple times and even attended the Olympic games in Beijing.

Jan lived a life full of spirit, service, and joy. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and racquetball, and treasured visiting family and friends. She and Dick shared a deep love of music and dancing and were regulars at The Jazz Corner on Hilton Head Island, SC.

Jan also gave selflessly of her time and talents. She served with distinction as a Council Member for the Village of South Russell, OH, where she was recognized by the mayor for her contributions to the Village’s properties, buildings and grounds, service department, and Safety Committee. She volunteered in schools and local libraries and was active in her neighborhoods as an HOA President and member of several architectural review boards. She loved her time working at Player’s World of Golf on Hilton Head. Among her most meaningful acts of service was the care and devotion she gave to her ailing mother and father-in-law in their later years.

Jan is survived by her loving husband, Dick Singer; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Chris Mead; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Yuchien Singer. She was a devoted grandmother to Jessica and Ashleigh Mead, and Arielle and Nate Singer. She is also survived by her future son-in-law, Mitchell Rowe, and two cherished great-granddaughters, Elle and Noa Rowe. Jan is further survived by her sister, Linda (Larry) Kepple; her brother, Larry (Christi) Faught; and beloved nieces Lori Kamariotis, Kim Matussak, Missy Barrett, Allyson Elliott, and Valerie Frint.

She will be deeply missed by countless family members and friends whose lives she touched in many ways.
