Janice P. Bongiorno

Janice P. Bongiorno, of Bluffton, South Carolina passed away on March 10th 2022. The loss was completely unexpected leaving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. She will be truly missed in so many ways.

She is survived by her sister Sandra Riemenschneider of Bluffton SC, daughter Catherine Bongiorno and wife Kelly McBee of Greenville SC, and her son Frank Bongiorno, Jr and wife Kristina Bongiorno, and grandson Erik Bongiorno of Austin, TX.  She is also survived by nephews, cousins, and numerous friends who were her extended family.

Janice was born in 1945 to Benjamin and Jeanne Barbato in Bronx, NY and raised in Rosendale, NY.  She graduated from Kingston High School, where she was a majorette. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Mercy College and was awarded a medal in philosophy. She had a career at Reader’s Digest as a 401K administrator, held a partnership in a home building company, and later in life became an independent accredited tax preparer.

She enjoyed all the places she called home from New York City to Upstate NY, to Cape May, NJ to Austin, TX to Montrose, CO to her beloved new home in Sun City Bluffton, SC.

Her passions included jewelry making, beading, paper crafting, card making, needlepoint, gardening, and playing different musical instruments. She actively enjoyed karaoke, live music, golfing, bocce, 5K’s, entertaining and spending time with friends and neighbors.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held beginning at 3:00 pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
