Jean Seay Blackwood

Jean Seay Blackwood passed away at home on October 30, 2024.  She was strong, independent and a fighter to the end while facing her last battle with lung cancer.

Born on January 24, 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky, Jean, affectionately known as Jeannie, was a natural caregiver. She paid her own way through school where she graduated in 1976 with a degree in Nursing. By the time Jeannie retired, she had over 40 years of nursing experience working in KY, TN and later SC as a Registered Nurse.

Those who were privileged to know Jeannie learned to appreciate her eclectic personality. She was an avid reader, great conversationalist and devoted to her beloved dogs. She was someone you could always rely on to listen when you needed an ear or just wanted to chat.

Jeannie was predeceased by the love of her life, Roger Blackwood, Jr. and her parents, Bill and Betty Seay. She is survived by her siblings, Gary Seay (Gail), Suzanne Unruh (Leonard) and Carol Schmitt (Mark) as well as seven nieces and nephews. Jeannie is also survived by her father-in-law, Charles R. Blackwood, Sr. and dear friend, Nikki Wivagg.

Jeannie lived and died the way she wanted. A private scattering of ashes will be done at a future time in Springfield TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
