Jean A. Casella

Jean A. Casella, 93, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Baldwin and Merrick, NY died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Casella was born on August 20, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Vaso and Mae Constanson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl F. Parenti; her younger sister, Terry Dattler; daughter, Carla Eggleston; son, David J. Casella; son-in-law, David Pimpinella; daughter-in-law, Nancy Temple; and her second husband, Dominick E. Casella. She is survived by her children, Robert Parenti, Richard Parenti and his wife, Liz, Margaret Casella Pimpinella, Ronald Parenti, Dominick Casella, and Christopher Parenti. She is also survived by her grandchild, Jason Parenti (his wife, Liz) and his children, Alex, Isabelle (their mother, Jennifer), Alyse, Angelina, and Jason, Jr.; grandchildren, Jerami Eggleston and Travis Eggleston and his daughter, Renee Carla (her mother, Christina); grandchildren, Jacob Parenti (his girlfriend, Casey), Julie Parenti, Nate (his girlfriend, Allison) and Matthew Parenti (their mother, Jodie), Emily Pimpinella and Elizabeth Pimpinella (her fiancé, Tim). She also leaves her loving nephew, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. Jean lived a long and fulfilled life. She grew up in Brooklyn through the depression as the older of two children and formed a strong work ethic by caring for her younger sister. She went on to study and graduate from Hunter College in 1944. She married her first husband, Carl after the war and raised five children. After Carl’s passing she had a long teaching career and married her second husband, Dominick, helping to raise his three children. They enjoyed their retirement years together traveling and visiting family. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909.
