Jean Parshall Dormer

June 11, 1944 — July 24, 2018

Jean Parshall Dormer passed away on July 24, 2018 surrounded by family at home in Bluffton, SC. Jean was the wife of Tom Dormer, and they both loved living together in the low country for the last 12 years. Jean was born to the late Raymond and Lillian Parshall, who raised her in Philadelphia and Boston. Jean retired from a career in journalism as an editor for the Sun Sentinel in South Florida. She enjoyed her retirement by traveling internationally and around the U.S., spending time with her family, volunteering at the computer club, and playing Mah Jongg and Bunco with friends. She is survived by her beloved children, Barbara Parshall of Los Angeles; James Dormer (wife Pearl) of Panama City, FL; David Dormer (wife Johannah) of Owatonna, MN; Paul Dormer of Bluffton, SC; Mark Dormer (wife Sara) of Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren Carolyn, Andrea, Ian, Zoe, and Tyson. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for friends and family at 12:00 noon, Monday August 13, 2018 at Riverbend Lodge in Sun City Hilton Head.
