September 24, 1939 — April 30, 2017

Jean F. Heney, age 77, of Hilton Head Island passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 24, 1939 in Oconto, WI to her late parents Clark and Alfreda Davis. Jean grew up in Suring, WI and was a 1957 graduate of Suring High School. She moved to Green Bay, WI after high school and graduated from the Wisconsin College of Cosmetology in 1958. She was employed at the beauty salon of H. C. Prange in Green Bay. She married Dell Heney on October 14, 1961 at St. Josephs Cathedral. In 1971, Jean and her family moved to Santa Clara, CA as part of her husband’s job. She loved California very much, but in 1979 Dell was promoted to a new position at A. C. Nielsen Headquarters in Northbrook, IL and she and the family moved to a home in Lincolnshire, IL. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1990, they bought a lot at Moss Creek Plantation in Hilton Head Island, SC and built their retirement home. Jean and her husband made many new friends in Moss Creek and they loved their retirement life there. Jean enjoyed bowling, golf, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. She was a great cook and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She was also a gifted cross stitcher. Her true passion, besides her family, was bridge. She ran the Ladies Bridge Group at Moss Creek for over twenty years and was affectionately known as the “Bridge Lady”. She participated in many local bridge tournaments and achieved 262.3 master points. Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Dell, her children Kay Finn (Robert), Barbara Sisk (Robert), and Daniel Heney (Paulette); her sisters Mary Jane Nelson, Beverly Trast, and Eileen Bardouche (Gerald); and her loving grandchildren David and Katherine Finn, Joe and Kelly Sisk, and Quinton and Spencer Heney; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Everett Davis and brothers-in-law Gerald Trast and John Nelson. All her children and grandchildren will miss Grandma’s Christmas box of goodies, especially the carmel corn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Jean’s life at the Moss Creek Clubhouse following the service. Burial will be in the Heney family plot at Allouez Catholic Cemetery in Green Bay, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.
